🔎Parent Workshops
Practical workshops and informational courses that provide parents with the knowledge, strategies, and resources they need to better understand literacy development and support their children’s reading and literacy development at home.
🔎Tutoring Support
Individualized, systematic, and explicit literacy instruction designed to strengthen children’s reading and writing skills and build the knowledge, strategies, and confidence they need to become increasingly independent readers and writers.
My Approach
I strongly believe that systematic, explicit structured literacy instruction embedded in the science of reading is the best method to accelerate growth and achievement for ALL learners, especially struggling readers and those with Dyslexia. There are a lot of myths out there about the science of reading.
Literacy expert, Dr. Louisa C. Moats, indicates that “the body of work referred to as the “science of reading” is not an ideology, a philosophy, a political agenda, a one-size-fits-all approach, a program of instruction, nor a specific component of instruction. It is the emerging consensus from many related disciplines, based on literally thousands of studies, supported by hundreds of millions of research dollars, conducted across the world in many languages.” *
Understanding what the science of reading entails empowers educators with the skills and knowledge to effectively support struggling readers, regardless of the program and curriculum they are implementing. It also helps educators understand what kind of instruction will most likely work best for most students.
